Reverse

Ouch, the interject!
It's supposed to hurt, to make one suffer.
Shed tears through winced faces,
Smile through hidden facades
Aww..the whimper!
In shrill tones
Coarse with a coat of distress
Veiled with normalness.
"May our lives be filled with joy"
Let the kneel and pray drill commence.
Light a candle
Or throw a shiny penny
In a wishing well.
Mine! The declare.
Claiming ownership
Over a shooting star!
Not fair, the sulk
Over slipped bliss, amid shattered hearts.
Not fair this pang, this twisty feeling in the gut!
Sorrow isn't a welcome guest
Lobby against it with an agenda
With passion, playing the victim.
Sorrow that plays protagonist,
 So fulfilling in movie scenes
In painful poems, soulful songs.
But on the plate, it stands out sore.
It isn't fair! It's a frightful chore.
But then again
Sorrow is burn, a cleanse even.
It could be a pal undercover,
The push  out of the cozy corner.
And where's progress
If the being is snug in its comfort zone?

Exposed

I step away
Leaving the childhood Maryjanes
By the door
Those shiny sparkly protectors
Under my tender feet
As rugged as they were ravishing
Like an armor of innocence
Guarding from the sharp stones of reality
On this rocky road of life!

I transition from laughter and rapture
From the euphoric viewpoint of purity
Skipping through happy lanes
Losing balance
On slippery slopes of deception.
I peel off my trust
Shun my rosy lenses
As the blurred world comes into focus
For what it is, not how I see it.

I walk into existence, from ecstasy
Into harshness from harbored
No umbrella of delight shading me
No golden sandals, no ruby slippers
Cushioning my steps.
There I stand face to face
With the wounds and scrapes of adulthood
Forever losing the child within
Once in a while
Wondering if she misses me
As much as I miss her!

Verse

Out there
Amid the hustle n bustle
In the swoosh of
Leaves that ruffle
Zooms of automobiles
Racing through ambitious lanes
I look to find
The treasure.
Out there in people’s gazes
Their actions and smiles
Their judgements and approvals
I look up and down
Far and wide
I look among branches
That thing I cannot find.
Out there
In riches and trophies
In money and medals
There’s everything there is to be
I thought!
But the void prevails
And out there
I find no solace
No trace of Grace
Till one day
I close the door
Shut my senses
And look inside!
Out there
There’s a whole world
But in here
It is!
